Winchester toasts Landlord and Landlady
Over 200 local residents and dignitaries raised their glasses in unison on the 31st March to toast Brid and Derek Phelan, landlord and landlady of the Golden Lion pub, Alresford Road, Winchester as they celebrated the expansion and continued success of the pub. The opening event, whose sponsors Wadworth, Drummond Butchers, Romsey, Brakes Catering and Cormacs catering supplies was a great success with live music including a choir to add to the unique party. Wadworth Shire Horses, Max & Monty, started their 2015 season last weekend in winning form at the Shire Horse Society Spring Show at the UK Arena in Grantham. Wadworth Pubs Provide A Warm Welcome For An Ex-Soldier On A Mission
Mark Newton,a 48 year-old ex-soldier from Swansea, has visited two Wadworth pubs on his latest long-distance journey on his mobility scooter. The Plough at Shalbourne near Marlborough and the White Hart at Wroughton both welcomed Mark and his two cats as they passed through the area.Mark, who was injured whilst serving in Cyprus in 1991, has already completed two epic journeys.His first was a circumnavigation of Wales followed by a 12,000 mile trek around Great Britain last year. Rich Cow WINS Pie Competition
A beef, back bacon and chestnut mushroom pie named ‘Rich Cow’ has beaten off stiff competition to be crowned the winner of Wadworth’s annual Pie Competition.
