This qualification aims to provide the basic product knowledge and skills in the service of wine including the:
• Main styles of wine
• WSET Level 1 Systematic Approach to Tasting
• Characteristics of the common grape varieties used to produce wine
• Service of wine
• Health, safety and legal issues
• Matching of food and wine
To gain the Level 1 qualification, candidates will be required to complete successfully:
A multiple choice paper of 30 questions
A portfolio of tasting notes
Candidates applying to sit the examination must be over the legal minimum age for the retail purchase of alcoholic beverages (18 years of age +)
£100.00 + VAT. The fee includes: Tuition, study materials, samples and examination
