George Inn Sandy Lane

George Inn

Sandy Lane, Chippenham, SN15 3PX

The George Inn, Sandy Lane is a beautiful, traditional village pub set on the outskirts of the stunning Bowood estate. Built in the 1700’s, the building once housed the workers from the estate. Located on the A342 between Devizes and Chippenham, the George is a drive to food destination pub, which benefits from local tourist attractions. Lacock village is located just 3 miles away and a favourite destination for film and TV production. The village’s most famous appearances include the BBC’s Pride and Prejudice, Cranford and most recently, Downton Abbey. Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince was also filmed in the picturesque village.

The George Inn is a beautiful stone building in Sandy Lane on the A342 Devizes to Chippenham road and backs on to the Bowood Estate. Internally the pub boasts an open fire and wood burning stove. The cosy dining room and beautiful timber framed conservatory create a warm and welcoming atmosphere for diners.  This site sits in our “Great Pub Great Food” segment and feel that it would benefit from the menus being re-developed to appeal to the wider community.

This is a fantastic business opportunity in a stunning part of Wiltshire.

New Business Partner Profile

The George would ideally suit an enthusiastic and driven couple with one or both having the catering skills to develop and deliver a good standard food offer.  The ability to engage with visiting customers and integrate within a rural community would be an advantage, with a passion to keep and dispense our quality cask ales and wines.
