Wadworth, the regional pub operator and family brewer based in Wiltshire since 1875, reached the finals in the Best Managed Pub Company (two – 50 sites) category at this year’s national Publican Awards.

These awards are a highlight of the pub industry calendar, with entrants from across the country, and Wadworth was recognised alongside operators including New World Trading Company, Hydes Brewery and Arc Inspirations. Winners were announced this week at a glittering award ceremony held at Evolution in Battersea, London.

Wadworth’s managed house estate comprises of 45 pubs located across the South West of England, all of which hold Cask Marque status, including the award-winning Crown Inn in Chippenham, Wiltshire, which has received a ‘4 Star Inn’ and ‘Gold Star’ from Visit England and an ‘Excellence Award’ from Trivago.

The operator has invested heavily in its managed pubs over the last year, with each venue launching a brand new smartphone and tablet compatible website, with an emphasis on quality imagery. Since the implementation of these new websites, traffic has increased between 10 per cent and 21 per cent across all pubs. In addition, Wadworth has invested more than £1.8million on accommodation in its managed pubs over the last 18 months.

Rupert Bagnall, Head of Managed Houses, commented: “We’re very proud to have been recognised as finalists at these prestigious industry awards, particularly amongst such esteemed company. We have some of the most picturesque pubs in the country in our portfolio and are continually investing in them to ensure they offer our customers an exceptional experience every time; boasting the perfect blend of great British pub traditions and modern hospitality.”
