Bishop’s Tipple Returns: Bright, Bitter, Bold

We’re thrilled to announce the return of a seasonal favourite – Bishop’s Tipple, a zingy pale ale that packs a citrusy punch and unapologetically bold character.

ABV: 5%
Available: June – July
Format: Cask only

Bishop’s Tipple is everything you want in a summer ale: bright, bitter, and bold. Expect a strong and zesty flavour profile with robust citrus notes and a clean, lingering hop finish. It's refreshingly sharp – perfect for long summer evenings.

A Beer with a Backstory

First brewed in 1973 to mark the appointment of George Reindrop as Bishop of Salisbury, Bishop’s Tipple was originally described by the man himself as “a temptress with its pale golden hue and soft after palate.” That description still rings true today.

Originally created by Gibbs Mew – and a darker brew back then – the name and spirit of the beer were revived via Ushers Brewery, with a recipe reimagined for modern palates. Despite its deceptively light colour, this is no gentle ale: the hop-forward bitterness and full flavour ensure it leaves a lasting impression.

Limited Time Only

Bishop’s Tipple is available on cask from June through July, so grab a pint while it lasts. Check with your local Wadworth pub for when they'll have it on the bar!
