Wadworth Legends Week: Celebrating 150 Years of Real People, Real Pubs, and Real Passion

This year marks 150 years of Wadworth, and to celebrate, we wanted to shine a light on the people who’ve helped make us who we are – not just the brewers, the pub managers, or the team behind the scenes, but you, the drinkers, the pub-goers, and the legends whose stories are stitched into the very fabric of our history.

Earlier this year, we asked you to share your most memorable Wadworth moments – the kind of stories that start over a pint and live on for years. And wow, did you deliver! From heartfelt tales to laugh-out-loud memories, we were overwhelmed by the love for our beers, our pubs, and everything in between.

Out of hundreds of amazing nominations, five superfans stood out – and we were proud to welcome them as our official Wadworth Legends.

We invited each of them (and a guest) to the brewery for a VIP day to remember, with everything from a sign-writing session in our historic Sign Shop, to lunch and pints with Head Brewer Andy, and a behind-the-scenes tour of the Folly Road Brewhouse. Now, we’re telling their stories.

Watch Their Stories – All Week Long

We’ve captured each Legend’s story in a series of short films, rolling out all this week. Whether it’s a lifelong love for 6X, a pub crawl tradition, or even naming a dog after the brewery, these are the people who make Wadworth what it is.

Meet the Legends:

Ellen & Wadworth the Puppy
Ellen’s love for Wadworth runs so deep, she named her puppy after us! From collecting memorabilia to training little Wadworth in our pubs, her story kicks off the series with charm and cheer.

Nigel – The 6X Superfan
With an estimated 45,000 pints of 6X under his belt (yes, really), Nigel has been flying the Wadworth flag since the ‘90s. His loyalty is the stuff of legend – and now, he’s officially recognised as one!

John – The original pub Legend
Born in the Fox & Hounds in 1931 and with a family history stretching back over a century in Wadworth pubs, John’s story is a beautiful reminder of how our pubs shape generations.

John – From the RAF to the Bear Hotel
After 40 years in the RAF, John rediscovered 6X and fell in love with Devizes. His New Year’s Eve Wadworth pub crawls and love for our brews make him a worthy part of this legendary line-up.

Tim – The Birthday Brewer
Tim’s connection goes back to childhood – and recently, he helped us brew 6X 1923 after winning our competition. He even spent his birthday with us during Legends Day. Now that’s dedication.

These five stories are just a snapshot of what makes Wadworth’s 150-year legacy so special – real people, real passion, and unforgettable pubs.

Watch all the videos now and meet the Legends.

And from all of us here at Wadworth – thank you for being part of our journey. Here's to the next 150.
